Pastor E. A Adeboye spoke at the Australia Pacific Virtual Conference. It was the Evening Session of the second day and he said that he was asked to speak on the theme of your convention: Covenant Keeping God. He read from the book of Deuteronomy 7:9 which says:

"Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and his commandments to a thousand generations"

He explained that in the simplest possible language, a covenant is a contract signed in blood. We all know what a contract is; two people enter into an agreement, you do this, and I will do that. But this time, when we talk about covenant it is not just an ordinary contract, because ordinary contracts can be broken where you can go to court. But because that is a contract, it is signed with ink but a covenant is signed in blood.

He further explained that when God was about to enter into a covenant with Abraham. He told Abraham, get me some animals, split them into two, and spread them this side, this side. Let the animals represent Me. As for you, in Genesis 17:10-14, this is the way you are going to show Me you are signing the covenant. Circumcise every male child, Abraham was almost a hundred years old. You can imagine circumcision at that age. It must have been very painful because that's a covenant. I am going to enter a covenant with you. You will use some animals to represent Me and you will shed your blood too.

According to the man of God, another name that is used to represent a covenant is testament. When a man writes his will, it is called the last testament Of the man. And the implication is, the man is saying "I am about to die". This is what I want to be done after I am gone. If anybody works contrary to what I am writing down, that fellow will join me soon. "A covenant is not a joking matter at all," he said.

The man of God further explained that in Deuteronomy 7:12-16, you can see in the summary of all the things included in the covenant between God and those who will do His Will. If you keep your part of the covenant, He will love you which means that you get victory without a fight. He says He will bless you which means that nobody can curse you. He said that if you keep your side of the covenant, He will multiply you. Then He went further and said that He will bless your children and the fruit of your body. He went on to say that He will bless the fruit of your soil which means that He will bless your harvest. It didn't stop there, He says, I am going to make you greater than everyone else. But you have to keep his covenant, you will be above all others.

He then revealed that God is a covenant-keeping God. When He makes a promise to you, you can relax because He is reliable. If any of God's promises to you seem to fail, check yourself. If things are not going through, there is nothing wrong with Him upstairs. He said, " I am the Lord, I change not. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If anything is wrong, it is down here with you. "God is a covenant-keeping God. Church Gist. He will fulfill all His promises," He reiterated.

In conclusion, he advised his members to take a look at themselves and if things are not working right, the problem is likely to be with them. He asked them to look at areas where they are backsliding, look at those things they are doing which they should not be doing. "Don't believe those who say, once you are born again you can live like the child of a devil. That is not correct. He was Holy then, He is still Holy now," he concluded.
